Dawn Of Ragnarok’s Trailer Has A Hidden Nod To AC Revelations
Ezio narrates the Assassin’s Creed Revelations‘ E3 2011 trailer, which begins with his journey to Masyaf. A third of the way into the video, the Master Assassin finds himself ambushed by a group of Templars, one of whom shoots him with an arrow from afar. The projectile pierces Ezio’s right shoulder, slowing him down momentarily before he breaks it off and launches himself into battle against a small army. Interestingly, a near-identical chain of events takes place in the AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok teaser trailer.
While walking through the wreckage of a settlement torn asunder, Odin takes an arrow to the right shoulder. Akin to the aforementioned Ezio scene, the ambush surprises the Allfather for but a moment before he breaks the arrow and proceeds to fight an onslaught of enemies. Reddit user Arachknight1017 called attention to the parallels in a clip that places the two moments side-by-side. It’s hard to argue against the notion that this call back to a 10-plus-year-old Assassin’s Creed Revelations trailer was anything other than intentional on Ubisoft’s part. Considering the company’s efforts in closely binding the wider Assassin’s Creed timeline and universe together, it would hardly come as a surprise if more trailers were to feature similar in-universe references like Dawn of Ragnarök‘s down the line.
