Elden Ring patch fixes boss bug that made Malenia even harder

Image: FromSoftware / BANDAI NAMCO

handling Developer From Software released a patch for the game on Wednesday. This is an update that addresses the infamous boss Malenia. This is an unwanted change in the Blade of Michela who was unaware of the defeat. (not good I never have.. ) His self-healing ability has returned to its original state. That is, he needs to attack the player with a sword to regain his health.

Players should have patched 1.04 earlier this month. handling Introduced a new bug in Malenia that affects players called to help others in co-op. If Malenia attacks the summoned player, she will regain her health, whether or not she has contacted them. It wasn’t the goal of FromSoftware, and it didn’t work that way in previous versions of the game.

The rest of the Wednesday update (formally version 1.04.1) fixes the following issues, as described in the BANDAI NAMCO patch notes below.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that reduced the duration of Cerulean’s hidden tears
  • Fixed a bug where Malenia’s HP wasn’t properly recovering in online multiplayer with Michela’s Blade.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some bosses to die at unwanted times
  • Fixed a bug that caused the “Hand Beast” boss to not work properly under certain conditions
  • Fixed some text

Elden Ring patch fixes boss bug that made Malenia even harder

Image: FromSoftware/Bandai Namco
Elden Ring developer FromSoftware rolled out a fix to the game on Wednesday, an update that addresses an unintended change to notoriously difficult boss, Malenia, Blade of Miquella, who has never known defeat. (Well, not never.) Her self-healing ability has been reverted to its original state, meaning she actually has to hit players with her sword to regain health.
Players discovered earlier this month that patch 1.04 for Elden Ring introduced a new bug for Malenia that affected players who had been summoned to aid others in co-op play. If Malenia attacked a summoned player, regardless of whether she made contact with them, she’d restore her own health. That was not FromSoftware’s intention, nor was it how she behaved in previous versions of the game.
The rest of Wednesday’s update (version 1.04.1, officially) addresses the following issues, as noted in Bandai Namco’s patch notes below.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug in which the effect duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear was revised downward
Fixed a bug with Malenia, Blade of Miquella in which her HP was not healed correctly in the online multiplayer environment
Fixed a bug that caused some bosses to die at unintended times
Fixed a bug that prevented the boss “Elden Beast” from working properly under certain circumstances
Fixed some texts
