Advantages and disadvantages of Zoho FreeMail
Zoho Mail is a solid email service for professionals. It offers a free Zoho Mail account, ample storage space, POP and IMAP access, instant messaging and integration with an online office suite. However, it is even more useful for organizing email, identifying important messages and contacts, and sending standard replies.
Up to 1TB of storage and 5GB of free space for your personal account.
POP and IMAP access.
Full search help tags and organization.
Things I hate
Templates cannot be used for boilerplate responses.
There are not enough saved searches and self-study records.
Limited spam filter.
What is a post office? Sure, it’s not Zoho’s online application suite. Zoho Mail is ambitious and supports desktop applications such as editing, spreadsheets and presentation programs.
Mass storage, POP and IMAP access
With Zoho Mail, you have plenty of storage space (5GB can be expanded to full terabytes (for a fee) for your personal account), and you can create other email accounts with Zoho Mail to send and receive emails. Zoho Mail also allows POP and IMAP access.
It’s all about accessing Zoho Mail, which works with both POP and IMAP. You can set it as your favorite email program on your desktop or in the palm of your hand, or have Zoho Mail forward new messages to any email address. A good addition is to use a filter to pass only certain messages. Zoho Mail rules generally have some restrictions on the actions that can be performed.
For some paid accounts, you can also set up Zoho Mail via Exchange ActiveSync. This enables address book synchronization and seamless emailing and calendaring to mobile devices.
Filters and searches
The basic functionality is there. Filters allow you to delete or classify emails and assign labels based on various criteria. Labels, called beacons, are available in a variety of colors in Zoho Mail, and fast, powerful searches help you organize and retrieve your email.
It is convenient to be able to save the search conditions as a folder, just like a self-study folder. You’ll learn spam filters, of course, and you must have learned a lot of great messages in my tests.
To create new messages and replies, Zoho Mail provides a message template that acts as a frequently used phrase or text snippet in any email that you can easily add to your email. You can manage and use multiple email signatures in the same way.
Zoho Mail integrates email with other apps and Google Docs. For example, you can easily share documents and add leads to your CRM application or log activity, but the interactions are rare. Zoho Mail does not detect the date and you need to copy and paste the address to search for someone’s email. The built-in Zoho Chat can communicate with many instant messaging networks.

Zoho Mail comes with handy keyboard shortcuts, and its web-based interface looks like an app with traditional views and widescreen. You can automate archiving to keep your folders clean. In some places, the number of features, buttons, and menus seems to have overcome simplicity.

Zoho Mail Free Email Service: Pros and Cons
Pros and cons of Zoho free email
Zoho Mail is a solid email service that targets professionals. A free Zoho Mail account offers ample storage, POP and IMAP access, and some integration with instant messaging and online office suites. It could be even more helpful, however, in organizing email, identifying key messages and contacts, and sending standard replies.
LifewireWhat We Like

POP and IMAP access.
Labels and comprehensive search help organization.
What We Don’t Like
Cannot use templates for canned replies.
Lacks saved searches and self-learning folders.
Limited spam filter.
What’s an office without mail? Not Zoho’s suite of online apps, of course. Zoho Mail, like the editing, spreadsheet and presentation programs, is ambitious and capably standing in for a desktop application.
Ample Storage Space, POP, and IMAP Access
You get ample storage with Zoho Mail – 5GB for personal accounts that’s expandable to a full terabyte (for a fee) – and you can set up other email accounts inside Zoho Mail for sending and receiving mail. Zoho Mail also allows for both POP and IMAP access.
What works via both POP and IMAP is accessing Zoho Mail: you can set it up in your favorite email program on your desktop or in your palm or have Zoho Mail forward new messages to any email address. A nice addition would be having it forward only certain messages using filters. Zoho Mail’s rules, in general, are a tad limited in the actions they can take.
With certain paid accounts, you can set up Zoho Mail via Exchange ActiveSync as well, which brings push email to mobile devices and seamless calendar as well as address book synchronization.
Filters and Search
The basic functions are there. Filters can delete or file mail based on various criteria, and they can assign labels, too. The labels, called Tags, come in colors with Zoho Mail, and with the swift, powerful search help organize and retrieve mail.
Being able to save search criteria as folders would be helpful, as would be self-learning folders. The spam filter does learn, of course, and in my tests had to be taught a good deal of good mail.
For composing new messages and replies, Zoho Mail offers message templates that function as text snippets which you can insert easily in your emails for oft-used phrases or entire mailings. You can manage and use multiple email signatures in a similar fashion.
Zoho Mail does integrate email with its other applications and somewhat with Google Docs. For example, you can easily share documents and add leads to the customer relationship management app or note events, but the interaction is often sparse. Zoho Mail does not detect dates, and searching for a contact’s mail requires copying and pasting their address. The integrated Zoho Chat can talk to many an instant messaging network.
